The MALC Patriots took on the Telesis Prep Tigers of Lake Havasu last Friday and took the game away, winning 58-8. The team played a non-conference game for the second week in a row and showed marked improvement over the first week. Although the Patriots defeated Indian Springs in week one, the game highlighted a number of areas needing improvement, including defense, ball control, and timing on snaps. The Patriots traveled to Phoenix on Saturday and arrived home as champions. After falling to NFL Academy at home by a score of 37-36 on September 16, the Patriots returned the favor and captured the AZCAA Class 2A State Football Championship. The final score was MALC 42 – NFL 40.

The MALC Lady Patriots took to the gridiron Friday afternoon for the school’s first annual Powder Puff football game prior to that night’s Homecoming matchup. The event pitted the freshman and sophomore girls, coached by Jen and Jeff Crews, againt the juniors and seniors, coached by Erica Sharp. The teams may have appeared lopsided based on age difference, but that didn’t stop the younger team from taking the win, 18-15, in two 15 minute running clock halves.
