Mohave Accelerated Learning Center

Mission Statement

Our mission as a school is to use community partnerships, technology, and gifted educators to provide a nurturing learning environment, in addition to reengaging students to recover credits in order to achieve a high school diploma, and prepare students socially for life after high school.

History

Mohave Accelerated Learning Center opened its doors in 2001. The initial opening of the school was delayed by the terrorist attacks against our country on September 11 of that year. In response to the patriotic fervor that swept our nation in the aftermath, the school chose the Patriots as our mascot and adopted the logo we use to this day. Our school colors are red, white, and blue. The school originally began in space provided by Riviera Baptist Church, on Marina Blvd. After two years, it became apparent that more space was needed so the school purchased our existing 15 acre campus and began building. In 2004, a separate charter was obtained to open Mohave Accelerated Elementary School, allowing us to educate a student from kindergarten through high school. In 2010, we were accredited by the North Central Association of AdvancED, the organization responsible for recognizing quality schools worldwide.

What We Offer

Today, MALC serves approximately 400 students from 6th to 12th grade. We have been labeled an “A” school by the AZ Dept. of Education and continue to provide a higher level of academic excellence each year. Our athletics program offers students the ability to participate in a number of different sports as a member of the AZ Charter Athletic Association. Our Credit Recovery program offers assistance to students who have fallen behind in their academics. Through independent study, classroom tutoring, and online learning, we help students make up credits at their own pace to get back on track or even graduate early. Our 9th graders participate in a mandatory Freshman Skills course that helps prepare them for life in high school and beyond. Study skills, character building, college prep, and vocational options are explored in a nurturing environment to foster success. All 9th and 10th grade students take a mandatory AIMS Prep course designed to prepare them for the State test. Since passing the AIMS test is a requirement for graduation in Arizona, this course is a valuable tool in preparing our students to obtain a diploma. Our teachers are certified, experienced, and highly qualified. We are a small high school with a caring staff and a family atmosphere. Our teachers and administrators take a personal interest in all our students and the results speak for themselves.
