Senior Christian Bernal and sophomore Jay Norton combined to give up 12 runs, only 4 earned in a loss to Tesseract in Scottsdale last Thursday. The two pitchers allowed 7 hits and 3 base on balls with only 5 strikeouts while their defense made 8 errors behind them.
The coaching staff noted, “Our defense will have to improve if we want to beat a team like Tesseract. They pitched well and made all their plays in the field.”
The Patriots had five hits on the day, and pushed two runs across the place in the 3rd inning of the four-inning mercy rule loss. The team is now 5-1 on the season.
