The softball team traveled to Quartzsite last night to take on the Scholars Academy Stars for the 2nd round of the CAA state tournament. The girls started off strong with an 8 run first inning, but gave up four runs to end the first inning 8-4. Scholar's bats came to life in the 2nd inning to take the lead 10-8 over the Lady Patriots. The Patriots played extremely well and were led at the plate by team Captain Victoria Drake who went 2-3 and Rebecca Bastyr. The Lady Patriots ended their season 4-7.

Throwing HeatThe Patriots softball team traveled to Peoria to play undefeated Skyline West. Dawn Astemborski pitched 5 innings but came up short in the 4-1 loss. The loss puts the Patriots at a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. Outfielder Rebecca Bastyr went 2 for 3 with 2 triples and scored the only run. Shortstop Victoria Drake had the first MALC triple play, catching a line drive and tagging a runner trying to advance to 3rd, then throwing to first to catch the runner off base. > Read More

Throwing HeatScholars Academy came to town from Quartzsite on Thursday afternoon to face the Patriots on the baseball and softball fields. The softball team started off slow and tried to rally at the end of the game, but came up short in a 17-12 loss. The baseball team, however, jumped on top of the Stars and led 3-0 after the first inning. The Patriots stranded 7 runners in 5 innings, but still won by a score of 6-3. The spring sports season is in full swing at Mohave Accelerated this week with practices for soccer, softball, and baseball all taking place.

The high school soccer team officially began its season with practice last Monday (Feb 2) at Rotary Park. This year, the team has a new head coach, Todd McIntryre, who has five years experience coaching AYSO soccer in the area. Practices are held each night (M-F) from 5:30pm to 7pm and the first week saw approximately 20 players out each evening.
