As part of the franchise agreement between the City of Bullhead City and our local cable company, NPG Cable, channel 67 on the cable system was set aside as an educational access channel. In 2004, the City signed an agreement with Mohave Accelerated Learning Center to assume management of the channel. Our school was the perfect candidate to assume this role as we had already built our own television production studio and were offering classes in the subject.

Our TV production roots go back to the hiring of Bud Holland in the school's early days. Holland came to us from the City where he ran their government access channel (TV4). Prior to that, he spent 50 years in the television industry, primarily as a camera operator for the ABC network. He has worked national and global sporting events including NFL football and several Olympics and received three Emmy awards for his work in daytime television. Upon coming to MALC, he purchased used equipment in a city auction and Patriot Productions was born!

In 2004, Mike Kern joined the school as the Director of Technology. He brought with him ten years of television experience beginning in high school. As a senior at Mohave High School, he helped setup a daily school news TV broadcast. Following high school, Kern went to work at TV2 KLBC in nearby Laughlin, NV where he learned the ropes of TV production. Before coming to MALC, he spent nearly seven years at KCRA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Sacramento, CA where he served as the Information Technology Manager.

More recently, Danielle Navarro joined the TV67 - Patriot Productions team after graduating from Mohave Accelerated as a student where she took TV courses and participated in numerous productions. She now works full time as an editor and instructor.

The Patriot Production courses offer our students the ability to learn production and editing skills. TV67, The Education Station provides a venue for the display of those skills. The students tape and produce several shows including Teen Talk and Education Focus. They also televise local high school sports including football and basketball for replay on the channel. The school has built a remote production truck that allows our crews to produce multi-camera TV telecasts with audio and graphics incorporated on site.
