Middle School Adds Intramural Football

Mohave Accelerated is pleased to announce that we will be offering tackle football this fall for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The new addition will be part of an expanded athletic program and will partner with the after school program in order to create more opportunities for students. Athletic director Jeremy Klingensmith said, "The time is right to expand our athletic programs to the younger students. Football is just one way that we plan to do this.

Class of 2010 Graduates From MALC

Graduating Class of 2010 tosses capsMohave Accelerated Learning Center sent forth its largest class of high school graduates ever on Wednesday evening in commencement exercises at the Riverside Resort's Starview Room. The 64 members of the Class of 2010 said their goodbyes and gave thanks to teachers, family, and friends who helped make their journey possible.

Following a keynote address by Bullhead City councilman Sam Medrano, the audience heard from valedictorian Alex Halsey and salutatorian Lizbeth Lopez.

8th Graders Promoted to High School

8th graders promotedThe middle school held its promotion ceremony Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Riviera Recreation Center near the school. 52 eighth grade students were honored with certificates as they ended the school year and advanced to high school.

Kindergarten Students Promoted

Kindergarten students promotedThe kindergarten students of Mohave Accelerated Elementary School donned caps and gowns Thursday morning for their end of school promotion ceremony. The recognition took place at the nearby Riviera Recreation Center at 9am. 34 students from all three MAES kindergarten classes received certificates and posed for the cameras in front of their proud parents.

Elementary School Holds Spring Fair

Mad Dog Karate StudentsThe Elementary Spring Fair was held Tuesday afternoon as the students celebrated the impending end of the school year. Games, prizes, a car wash, and dunk tank were all part of the festivities as the elementary and middle school kids gave up their afternoon classes for the revelry.

Mad Dog Fitness was on hand as well with a group of their karate students, including several from the Mohave Accelerated Schools. The students sparred on mats and performed skills demonstrations such as breaking boards.

Kindergarten Students Visit Oatman

Bernal's Class in Oatman The kindergarten students from Mohave Accelerated and the East campus took a trip to Oatman on Thursday, May 6. The kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Andrews, along with the K-1 combo class teachers, Mr. Ochoa and Ms. Bernal (East campus), took their kids to the nearby ghost town to learn about local history and the southwest culture. While there, the classes hung out with the burros and posed for photographs dressed in Old West clothing.

Graduation Ceremonies Held This Week

MALC GraduatesThe Mohave Accelerated Schools will host three graduation ceremonies this week as the 2009/10 school year draws to a close. On Wednesday evening, the senior class of 2010 will hold their commencement exercises at the Riverside Resort in Laughlin, NV. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in the Starview Room at 7pm. Speeches will be given by Class Valedictorian, Alex Halsey and Salutatorian, Lizbeth Lopez along with commentary by senior Stephanie Olson.

MALC Student Holds Art Show

Deanna Sohn and her artMohave Accelerated senior, Deanna Sohn held her own art show Monday evening at the Riviera Recreation Center on Commercial Way. An art student at MALC, she exhibited many of her works from her years at the school including watercolors, drawings, and more. Sohn recently took the "Best of Show" award at the Tri-State Art Show held at Mohave Community College as well as First Place in the Watercolor category.
