Baseball ended its postseason run on Friday with a third place finish in the Charter Athletic Association state playoffs. The Patriots lost by a score of 10-8 to James Madison Prep. The loss puts the team at 13-5 on the season. Telesis Prep from Lake Havasu City ended up winning the state title over James Madison on Saturday morning. Athletic Director Jeremy Klingensmith said, “We played hard today and had a great season. It is very encouraging to see these young players grow and develop. The future of baseball at Mohave Accelerated will be very strong.”

Going For StateThe Mohave Accelerated Patriots defeated the Scholars Academy Stars by a score of 10-3 on the baseball diamond on Monday. The victory came in the second round of the Charter Athletic Association state playoffs. Danny Warden pitched five innings in the win and added two hits, including a double in the second inning, and three stolen bases. Cole Christensen hit in the fifth spot for the Patriots going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and also drove in two runs. > Read More

Winners!The Mohave Accelerated Patriots won all four of their games this week. They began the week in Laughlin on Monday. They posted a 9-5 win over the Cougars behind the pitching of Christian Bernal. Bernal had 7 strikeouts in the win as well as going 4-for-5 at the plate. Chris Warden went 4-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. Warden also earned the save by recording the final 4 outs.

The MALC Patriots Baseball team traveled to Laughlin on Monday to finish a four game series. The Patriots went ahead early with runs scored by Danny Warden and Marc Montemayor. Pitcher, Christian Bernal, allowed no runs through three innings of play and left the game after pitching 5 2/3 innings with a 5-4 lead. Chris Warden came in and closed out the game for a 9-5 victory. The Patriots showed their late inning strength by scoring 7 of the 9 runs in the final three innings. With this victory the Patriots’ record moves to 5-3 on the season.

Throwing HeatThe Patriots softball team traveled to Peoria to play undefeated Skyline West. Dawn Astemborski pitched 5 innings but came up short in the 4-1 loss. The loss puts the Patriots at a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. Outfielder Rebecca Bastyr went 2 for 3 with 2 triples and scored the only run. Shortstop Victoria Drake had the first MALC triple play, catching a line drive and tagging a runner trying to advance to 3rd, then throwing to first to catch the runner off base. > Read More

Throwing HeatScholars Academy came to town from Quartzsite on Thursday afternoon to face the Patriots on the baseball and softball fields. The softball team started off slow and tried to rally at the end of the game, but came up short in a 17-12 loss. The baseball team, however, jumped on top of the Stars and led 3-0 after the first inning. The Patriots stranded 7 runners in 5 innings, but still won by a score of 6-3. Marc Montemayor pitched all five innings for the Patriots. > Read More

MALC BaseballMohave Accelerated visited Glendale Prep on Tuesday and came back with a 14-7 victory in 5 innings of play. Jay Norton pitched three solid innings of ball before being relieved by Danny Warden. A key bunt by Marc Montemayor extended a streak in the third where the Patriots collectively scored 7 runs including a 3-run shot by Danny Warden that put the Patriots up 9-3. Speed on the bases was a key factor in this game, although consistent hitting seemed to be a big threat to the Glendale Prep fielders as well. > Read More
