Hello from Student Council! We are here to tell you what we not only accomplished, but what we are planning on doing. The Article you are reading explains that and more!!!!!

We have had root beer floats, a dance, and have sold snacks in Mrs. Sharp’s (room 4 in the Jr. High Campus). We are planning a carnival. All ages invited!!!!!!! Soon, we will be selling root beer floats again, (March 17, 2010). We will are accepting orders for the root beer floats. Don’t forget to order one they might be gone when you are able to get one!!!

MALC Basketball Players in All-Stars

The AZ Charter Athletics Association All-Star Showcase took place this past Saturday (March 6) at the Tri-City Academy in Chandler. The Showcase is an opportunity for league teams to highlight their strongest players and featured four teams in our Division B representing the different region of the league.

Winter Sports Awards & Student/Faculty Basketball Game

The winter sports awards were held on Thursday evening (March 4) at Young Scholars Academy. Athletic Director Jeremy Klingensmith was on hand to present certificates of participation to each student, along with the head coaches who presented individual awards.

Jennifer Weinald recognized her cheerleading squad, which has been in action since the beginning of the year and just wrapped up cheering the basketball squads.

Poster Contest Winners Announced

The school recently held a poster contest between all the classes on our campuses to celebrate the 100th day of the school year. Classes were encouraged to decorate their doors with posters and judging was conducted by Superintendent Dr. Vickie Christensen, Principal Casey Mulligan, Asst. Principal Jeremy Klingensmith, and Resource Officer Don McLain. In addition to the door contest, the middle and high schools celebrated with barbecue parties and the elementary school handed out ice pops.

Soccer Opens With 5-3 OT Win Against Kingman Academy

The MALC Soccer team kicked off their season last night with a 5-3 overtime win against the Kingman Academy Of Learning Tigers at Rotary Park. Less than a minute after the opening kick, Marco Mejia drove in the first goal to take the lead. Christian Badilla followed up with another goal soon after before Kingman scored to end the first half 2-1.

Spring Sports begin

The spring sports season is in full swing at Mohave Accelerated this week with practices for soccer, softball, and baseball all taking place.

The high school soccer team officially began its season with practice last Monday (Feb 2) at Rotary Park. This year, the team has a new head coach, Todd McIntryre, who has five years experience coaching AYSO soccer in the area. Practices are held each night (M-F) from 5:30pm to 7pm and the first week saw approximately 20 players out each evening.

MALC High School Basketball Season Ends

MALC's high school basketball season ended last week with playoff losses by both the girls' and boys' teams. Both teams are members of the Arizona Charter Athletic Association Division B.

National Honor Society Induction

For the first time in our school's history, Mohave Accelerated high school students were inducted into the National Honor Society on Wednesday, February 10 in an evening ceremony at the Riviera Recreation Center. The school formed a new charter of the Society under the direction of Michelle Halsey, 4/5 teacher at Mohave Accelerated Elementary School, and Christine Seabury, math teacher at MALC. The keynote speaker at the event was Shawn Bristle, Dean of the Mohave Community College Bullhead City Campus, who praised the students for their achievement and spoke about their future.
